EMTAR Recognizes REALTOR® Safety
Each September, as part of its ongoing efforts to keep members safe, the National Association of REALTORS® marks REALTOR® Safety Month. At EMTAR, we affirm the importance of focusing on this vital aspect of the real estate industry as our members work to help people in our communities to achieve the American dream of homeownership.
Safety is not something we take for granted, and so we are sharing some of the many resources available to agents and brokers, not only this month but throughout the year, to emphasize the importance of being cautious when working with prospective buyers and sellers, showing homes, hosting open houses, traveling to and from properties, and more.
One of the practical ways we are marking this month is through the following CE course:

Taught by Middle Tennessee REALTOR® and broker Chris Garrett, the “Putting REALTOR® Safety First: Safety Strategies for the Modern REALTOR®” course is designed to instill safety awareness and habits as second nature so that real estate professionals—as well as their clients and customers—know how to avert or respond to dangerous situations and avoid harm as they practice their profession.
We hope to see many of our EMTAR members at this course on the 28th!
From the NAR level, September is devoted to sharing the core components of REALTOR® Safety: knowledge, awareness, and empowerment.
The goal of the National Association’s REALTOR® Safety Program is to reduce the number of safety incidents that occur in the industry, so every REALTOR® comes home safely to his or her family every night. We will accomplish this goal together with our members by improving the Safety Culture in the industry: Talk about safety; create a safety plan and follow it; and encourage your fellow REALTORS® to do the same.
To mark this month, NAR offers updated online REALTOR® safety resources, including new webinars and seasonal safety tips for associations and brokers to share with members.
Those resources include:
- A comprehensive REALTOR® Safety Training Presentation to download and share
- The REALTOR® Safety Video Series
- A Planning Your Safety Strategy page
- REALTOR® Safety Webinars
- Safety Resources for Members and for Associations & Brokerages
- NAR’s Safety Topic
- A page of articles on REALTOR® Safety
We hope you will explore some of these valuable tools for yourself, for your firm and agents (especially if you are a principal/managing broker), and for your clients. Not only is it essential for REALTORS® to focus on staying safe, but it adds a level of confidence and assurance among buyers and sellers when they know that we are thinking of them and their safety as well.
Take care out there!
