REALTORS® are required to complete ethics training of not less than 2 hours, 30 minutes of instructional time within two-year cycles.The training must meet specific learning objectives and criteria established by the National Association of REALTORS®.
A new two-year cycle began January 1, 2017. The deadline for this cycle is December 31, 2018.
Failure to complete training during the cycle will lead to suspension of membership for the January and February immediately following the cycle deadline, with termination of membership starting March 1 after the cycle deadline.
What do you need to do?
Step 1: Determine if you have completed an ethics class between Jan 2017- Dec 2018. Visit http://verify.tn.gov/ and look for "Code of Ethics" or "Ethics,Fair Housing, Anti". Or check "View my Education Record" on NAR's website here.
If you have not completed an ethics class in 2017 or 2018, please refer to the next step.
Step 2: To complete the ethics requirement here are a few options:
- Take the FREE online class at nar.realtor.org (no CE credit but does fulfill the NAR requirement)
- Take an ethics class given at EMTAR, check available classes on our Calendar (CE credit)
- Take an ethics class online through The CE Shop (CE credit)
*If you take an ethics class anywhere other then EMTAR or NAR, you must send a copy of your certificate to EMTAR to fulfill the NAR Ethics requirement.
