Licensees:
TREC requires licensees to complete 16 hours of state-approved continuing education (6 of which must be the mandatory “TREC Core Course”) every two-year licensing period, prior to the expiration date of your license. The remaining 10 hours must be state-approved elective courses. In addition, licensees must complete NAR’s biannual ethics course, which is required by the National Association of REALTORS®. The current Code of Ethics biennial cycle began on January 1, 2019 and ends on December 31, 2020.
Brokers:
TREC requires Brokers to complete 120 post-broker hours by the third-year anniversary of receiving their broker license, including the state-required TREC Core course and 16 hours of continuing education every two years thereafter. (Brokers licensed prior to January 1, 2005 are exempt from continuing education requirements. However, the National Association of REALTORS® requires ALL REALTOR® members to complete an approved Code of Ethics class once every two-year cycle. This requirement applies to all Brokers, Affiliate Brokers and Appraisers. The current Code of Ethics biennial cycle began on January 1, 2019 and ends on December 31, 2020.
Please contact TREC at 615-741-2273 with specific questions.
